Converse was founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse, in Malden Massachusetts USA. Initially designed as a basketball shoe, Converse sneakers are renowned for their comfort, durability, support and flexibility. Their most iconic sneaker the Converse All Star has remained largely unchanged the 1920s. Their shoes generally consist of a stitched upper, rubber toe cap and a sole that is usually made of brown or white rubber. Although Converse Chuck Taylor and Converse All Star are made of various materials such as leather, the original and most widely known version of the sneaker is made from cotton canvas.
Over the years the popularity of Converse has remained and key silhouettes like the Converse All Star have become icons in modern streetwear culture. Check out the full range of Converse Shoes today at JD Sports, available for Men, Women and Kids.

History of the Brand
Converse is an iconic American shoe company founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse. Initially, they produced rubber shoes and specialized in galoshes. In 1917, Converse introduced the All-Star basketball shoe, which became immensely popular. Over the years, the brand became synonymous with basketball culture, worn by athletes like Chuck Taylor, who later endorsed the shoes and had his signature added to the design. Converse continued to grow in popularity throughout the 20th century and expanded its product line beyond sports footwear. In 2003, Nike acquired Converse, helping to revitalize the brand and introduce new designs while preserving its classic appeal. Today, Converse remains a cultural icon, with its shoes being worn by people of all ages and backgrounds.
